چکیده

IntroductIon Rotator cuff injuries are common in all athletic. Of all rotator cuff injuries, the supraspinatus tendon involves mostly. Severe supraspinatus tendon injury may affect the patient’s quality of life. However, supraspinatus tendon injury can be relatively asymptomatic in some cases and may require sonographic examination for diagnosis.[1,2] With continued improvement in shoulder arthroscopy, surgical treatment for supraspinatus tendon injury has become more effective and less invasive.[3] Therefore, there has been increasing demand for the accurate morphologic and dynamic characterization of both the severity and location of supraspinatus tendon injury to guide management.[4]

Dynamic imaging and function of partial supraspinatus tendon tears.

PURPOSE It was the purpose of this study to identify and document normal and abnormal supraspinatus tendon function in vivo using real-time ultrasound. METHODS We defined 4 groups of 20 individuals each: partial tear (group 1), full-thickness tear (group 2), successfully repaired tear (group 3), and healthy asymptomatic controls (group 4). Except for group 4, all patients underwent magnetic r...

Assessment of Correlation Between MRI and Arthroscopic Pathologic Findings in the Shoulder Joint

Background: The objective of this study was to determine the diagnostic value of magnetic resonance imaging for shoulder joint pathologies and then compare the results with arthroscopy, the standard for joint diagnosis. Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 80 patients with shoulder joint disorders, who underwent final arthroscopy, were studied. Based on patients’ medical history and physic...

Ultrasonic examination of biceps and supraspinatus tendons in patients with chronic hemodialysis, referring to Rasoul Akram Hospital in Tehran at 2019-2020

Introduction: Tendiopathy is defined as an overuse injury that is histologically associated with tenocyte proliferation, collagen fiber degradation, increased non-collagen matrix, fluid accumulation between fibers, capillary proliferation, and calcification. Early diagnosis of tendonopathies Conservative treatments are necessary to prevent severe tendon damage or even rupture. Ultrasound is a n...

Accuracy of CT arthrography in the assessment of tears of the rotator cuff.

CT arthrography and arthroscopy were used to assess tears of the rotator cuff in 259 shoulders. Tear size was determined in the frontal and sagittal planes according to the classification of the French Arthroscopy Society. CT arthrography had a sensitivity of 99% and a specificity of 100% for the diagnosis of tears of supraspinatus. For infraspinatus these figures were 97.44% and 99.52%, respec...

MRI-Arthroscopic Correlation in Rotator Cuff Tendon Pathologies; A Comparison between Various Centers

Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has long been considered a perfect imaging study for evaluation of shoulder pathologies despite occasional discrepancies between MR reports and arthroscopic findings. In this study we aim to evaluate impact of imaging center as an indicator of image quality on accuracy of MRI reports in diagnosis of rotator cuff tendon pathologies. Methods: We re...
